Meditation for Health and Focus

Just as an athlete practices to strengthen and tone their muscles, an individual does the same with toning and strengthening their mind through regular and consistent exercise called "meditation".


The primary aim of the meditation programs that New Directions has developed for our clients is to enable their associates:

  • to realize a work/life balance based on personal empowerment and energy management
  • to manage daily stressors and maintain resiliency in a changing work environment

The final design would be based on input gathered during an assessment phase and would be customized to provide the best possible solution for the company's or organization's health and wellness goals and objectives.


With consistent and regular practice, the participants of this program will be able to see situations more clearly while remaining relaxed and alert, allowing them to learn to respond consciously instead of reacting in a less effective way.


Individuals who learn and master these techniques will be better able:

  • to concentrate on tasks,
  • focus on what is most important,
  • gain perspective which is so essential in times of crisis; as well as every day management of business challenges,
  • and successfully manage their physical and mental health.

Goals


Each Program’s goals are based on discussions with the program coordinator. However, in general we have found these are the most productive guidelines:


Participants will learn to:

  • Identify stressors in their lives, both personally and at work and manage these to lessen both the perception and experience.
  • Learn the signs of stress as they manifest in their bodies and thoughts (physical and psychological) so they can be caught early enough to stop.
  • Demonstrate a measurable difference in their stress levels to achieve lower or more normalized blood pressure.
  • Enhance their ability to achieve physical wellness and decrease absenteeism
  • Demonstrate an improved ability in interpersonal communication to both their internal and external customer.
  • Increase their ability to focus, think more clearly and concentrate.
  • Realize heightened creative problem solving abilities.

 Approach 

To insure that the program objectives and organizational performance changes are both sustainable and systemic, the Program will utilize a multi-phased approach designed to effect behavioral change within the organization.  These phases are:

·         Assessment and review of participants' Wellness Profiles;

·         Design;

·         Delivery and;

·         Follow-up phase


Current-state effectiveness in impacting targeted strategic objectives will be determined through the Assessment and Review Phase (Phase I) and would include examining organizational climate and effectiveness through a series of interviews and observation of the stressors prevalent in the group. 


The Design Phase (Phase2) is critical to insure alignment with the company’s objectives and desired outcomes. 


The Delivery Phase (Phase 3) uses a classroom, experiential and technological approach to teach, coach and follow-up to insure that participants are meeting individual goals and objectives. 


The Follow-up Phase (Phase 4) is critical in reinforcing positive behavioral change, and the Organization’s ability to meet their health and wellness objectives.  This phase will also determine what type of regular, on-site follow-up sessions will be appropriate.


In summary,
this program will be designed to provide participants with the insight and tools needed to effect positive change in the area of stress management, and overall improvement of work life balance. The program will be rigorous in its approach and comprehensiveness to insure that we meet our stated objectives.
